Special Kids in the UK has five levels of membership. All registrations will be handled within 48 hours of application. Please note that applications are welcomed from residents of the United Kingdom, Ex-Patriots and those intending to move to the UK within the immediate future.

Member level - Parent/Carer of a child or young person with special needs

If you are a parent or principal carer of a child or young person with special needs you can join Special Kids and have access to the following:

  • Online discussion board with many forums to share your experiences with other members and ask questions of your own
  • chatroom for instant communication with other members including weekly Chat sessions on topics related to Special Needs
  • Regular electronic newsletter
  • Subsidised family days throughout the year
  • Useful information and tips
  • An environment where you can make friends and have fun!

Extended Family Member level

If you are a member of family other than parent or principal carer, you can still join our charity and have access to:

  • Online discussion board to share your experiences with other extended family members and ask questions of your own. Please note: We do not give extended family members access to the main parent/principal carers members forums

  • Useful information and tips
  • An environment where you can make friends and have fun!

Respite Carers

If you are a carer that offers short term respite for children or young people with special needs, you can join and have access to:

  • Online discussion board to share your experiences with other carers and ask questions of your own. Please note: We do not give short term carers access to the main parent/principal carers members forums unless you have a child with special needs of your own.

  • Useful information and tips
  • An environment where you can make friends and have fun!

Associate Membership

If you are a professional or organisation who works or volunteers within the special needs community and are not a parent/carer of a child or young person with special needs, you can join as a Professional member and have access to:

  • Professionals and extended family members only online forum where you can meet and discuss with other professionals.
  • Opportunity to ask questions to the Members
  • Regular electronic newsletter
  • Member only section of website

Affiliate Membership

The Affiliate membership level is aimed at Local Support groups for families of children or young people with special needs throughout the UK who may meet regularly. The families who attend your group can also join as a Member if they wish. You will have access to the following:

  • Professionals and extended family members only online forum where you can meet and discuss with other professionals.
  • Opportunity to ask questions to the Members
  • Regular electronic newsletter
  • Member only section of website
  • Special Kids in the UK literature for display in your group
  • Access to member benefits such as any discounts, subsidised products or product trials where applicable
